The following artist profiles feature artists in Aotearoa who use printmaking techniques as part of their arts practice. They feature emerging, mid-career and established artists and talk about their unique journey in printmaking.
Since 2020 I’ve been interested in learning about the unique printmaking ecosystem in Aotearoa, which led to this body of research and inspired the birth of the Printopia Festival of Original Print in 2022.
In 2024 I received a grant from the Asia New Zealand foundation do a research tour of printmaking and papermaking studios in Bali, Manila and Chiang Mai.
I have written them in an informative style so that they are accessible and interesting to all. My hope is that they inspire readers to learn more about these artists, to get in touch, support, collect or curate their work.
